Policies & Prices

The following is a description of the Musical Suite’s policies regarding registration, absence, refunds and payment plans. Adult Flex Plan
For adults who want to either explore music for the first time, or pick up where they left off with an instrument as a child, this is the perfect plan for you! Normally students commit to an 18 week semester of private lessons. But this plan allows you the flexibility of signing up for only 10 weeks of lessons at a time, working around your busy schedule. Students are still asked to give their teachers at least 24 hour notice for any cancellation of lessons. Payment for this plan is due in full by the first lesson of the 10 weeks.

6 Week Trial Plan
New Students who are trying out an instrument for the first time may enroll in our 6 Week Trial Plan before making the commitment to sign up for the remainder of our 18 week semester. This also makes an excellent gift of music to a loved one! Call our office to get more information about our Gift Certificates. Payment for this plan is due in full by the first lesson of the 6 weeks.

Registration
Registration may take place at any time during the year, but it is recommended that a student start at the beginning of a semester to secure a desired time slot. The year is divided into two 18-week semesters for spring and fall, along with a flexible summer semester. You may register in person, by phone or by e-mail. Payment
Payment in full is due before the first lesson of each semester. There is a $20.00 (per family) non-refundable, annual registration fee. Tuition may be paid by personal check, money order, cash, MasterCard or Visa. Payment plans may be arranged through our office prior to registration. A late fee of $15.00 will be charged to accounts 15 days overdue. Bank charges will apply for returned checks. The Musical Suite reserves the right to suspend or discontinue instruction of any student who has not made payment by the 3rd lesson in a semester.

Family Discount
A Family Discount is available to families with two or more members taking lessons. The discount is applied to the second family member and each thereafter attending during the same semester. The discount does not apply to group classes or students who take lessons on more than one instrument.

Refunds & Credits
If a student withdraws before the fourth private lesson, the school will refund the balance of the tuition less a cancellation fee equal to one lesson. No refunds are given after the third lesson except in cases of prolonged illness or injury.

Absence Policy
Lessons will be made up for teacher absences or school cancellations only. Student absences may be made up at the teacher’s discretion. Rescheduled lessons are arranged between the student and his/her teacher.

Master Class/Workshops
A teacher may substitute a master class or group workshop for a private lesson as long as prior agreement is made with the student or parent.

Holidays, Vacations & Snow Days
Please refer to our calendar to find out when we are closed for holidays and school vacations. In case of snow or emergency, cancellations will be announced on the Musical Suite answering machine: 978-462-8225. Morning classes will be canceled if the Newburyport public schools are closed.  If the weather improves in the afternoon teachers will call their students directly to schedule lessons. School cancellations will also be posted on local TV channels 5 and 7.
